Homemade Mexican Flavor, Generations in the Making
At Tamale Mama, food is more than a meal—it's a tradition, a story, and a way to bring people together. What began as Cristina "Tamale Mama" Leon making tamales for her family and neighbors quickly grew into a beloved Fresno favorite. Encouraged by her son Ruben and embraced by the local community, Cristina turned her passion for authentic Mexican cooking into a family-run restaurant that continues to warm hearts and fill stomachs every day.
Our recipes have been passed down through generations, using time-tested techniques and fresh, quality ingredients. From handmade masa to slow-cooked meats and flavorful spices, every tamale is crafted with care and love. While our signature tamales remain the star of the menu, dishes like Tamazole (our unique twist on pozole), hearty burritos, and refreshing agua frescas have also become customer favorites.
Located in Fresno's historic Chinatown at 1342 Tulare Street, we're proud to serve our community with quick, friendly service for lunch and dinner. Whether you're dining in, taking out, or catering a special event, our mission is the same: to make you feel like family and share with you the comfort of authentic Mexican home cooking.
At Tamale Mama, you don't just enjoy a meal—you experience tradition, family, and the true flavor of Fresno.
